Performance
is a vital part of the education of students in all
of our programs. We expect students to grow in their
specialties and as musicians throughout their lives.
Students at the Cali School enjoy many opportunities
to perform in ensembles of all sizes. Our Wednesdays
at One series focuses on performances by students, faculty and guest artists
in small ensembles. Our annual kaleidoscope concerts
feature over 300 students and faculty in an omnibus
presentation of many styles of music. Our large ensembles
perform several times a year in the acoustically acclaimed
Kasser Theater.
We present over 100 concerts a year by faculty, students,
guest artists, and our ensemble-in-residence, the Shanghai Quartet.
These include performances of early music by Collegium
Musicum, classical, jazz and contemporary works by the
MSU Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony, MSU Symphony Orchestra,
MSU Singers, MSU Chorale, Vocal Jazz Ensemble and Jazz
Band, Contemporary Ensemble, MSU Harry Partch Ensemble,
and much more.
